Glass deck rails make a great add-on to a deck for many reasons. You can see out of the deck while sitting and enjoying yourself. If you live near a lake, you likely have a lot of wind. If so, glass railings would work great for you because there is less space between the panels so you will have less wind blowing through them. You still have to have some space, however, because you do not want the wind hitting directly onto the glass railings without having any place to go, as this could damage them.
If you like wood, you can put wood railings over the glass railing to give you both looks. This also provides you with a place to sit your beverages and other items on top of the railing.
Furniture
Once you decide on the railings, you will need to decide on the type of furniture you want for your deck. This will provide you, your family, and your friends with a comfortable place to sit and relax while you are enjoying time on your deck.
You can choose wood furniture, but it will likely be more expensive when compared to other types. If you choose wood, it requires a preservative to protect it from the weather and insects. If you purchase wood and want to paint the furniture, choose paint that has UV filters to prevent the furniture from fading.
Wicker and rattan furniture is another choice. This furniture is lightweight and comfortable. You can find it in a wide range of colors. If the furniture does not already come with cushions, you should buy some. If you do, the material needs to be made for outdoor weather so the fabric will not wear and fade.
Once you decide on these two things, add some lighting to the deck, as well as some potted flowers and plants.
